Brent Patterson is a multimedia artist currently based in Buffalo, NY. He teaches various digital media courses as Professor of Art & Design at SUNY Buffalo State College. Patterson’s research involve’s utilizing free and open source software for cultural authorship and individual empowerment. He also advocates for and studies the effects of software in creative learning environments. His studio practice currently has two primary interests. The first is to explore the paradox between profundity and banality, and how human emotion navigates both on a daily basis. The second is to invoke physical and natural reactions in digital simulations in order to observe and scrutinize synthetic nature.
