As an introduction to Illustrator, create three 8” square images that contain only non-representational abstract shapes. Choose a color scheme from kuler.adobe.com and use that for all three images. Visit artstor.org and search for artists such as Albers, Lissitzky, Kandinsky, Klee, and Rothko. Print them out to three 8.5 x 11 matte or glossy ink jet paper and crop each one to the edges of the image (so it’s 8″ x 8″).

Are you using organic forms or geometric forms or a combination of the two? How does the chosen hues relate to the shapes they take in your compositions? What is the foreground and background – does there have to be a foreground and background and can you design a composition in which you can’t tell which is which?

Deliverables:

3 x 8”x 8” inkjet print with your three compositions liad out as above (write your name on the back). Be careful, make sure you’re printing high resolution images.

3 300ppi PNGs of your illustrator compositions attached to this assignment, plus one 300ppi composite of all three compositions placed together in one PNG image.
