Art 219 Color Scheme Tryptic

< 219 Home page

As an introduction to Illustrator, create three 8” square images that contain only non-representational abstract shapes. Choose a color scheme from and use that for all three images. Visit and search for artists such as Albers, Lissitzky, Kandinsky, Klee, and Rothko. Print them out to three 8.5 x 11 matte or glossy ink jet paper and crop each one to the edges of the image (so it’s 8″ x 8″).

Are you using organic forms or geometric forms or a combination of the two? How does the chosen hues relate to the shapes they take in your compositions? What is the foreground and background – does there have to be a foreground and background and can you design a composition in which you can’t tell which is which?

3 x 8”x 8” inkjet print with your three compositions liad out as above (write your name on the back). Be careful, make sure you’re printing high resolution images.

3 300ppi PNGs of your illustrator compositions attached to this assignment, plus one 300ppi composite of all three compositions placed together in one PNG image.
